About Companies House London Information Centre

The London Information Centre was relocated to Bloomsbury Street in January 1999. Its main functions are the provision of company information and receipt of statutory documents.

The Information Centre also provides a range of premium same-day services. These include:

• incorporations;
• changes of name;
• re-registrations;
• 117 applications (certificates which allow public companies to commence business and borrow);
• Certificates of good-standing;
• certified copies of Certificates of Incorporation;
• certified copies of documents held on the register.

The opening hours are 9am to 5pm but we open from 8:30am for deliveries and collections.

Company Searches

The public search room allows access to statutory information through its on-line system.

All documents filed since April 1995 are instantly available from our image database. Earlier documents can be ordered via the Scan Upon Demand Service (delivered within 2 hours of ordering) or by ordering the microfiche, which is available for collection from 8.30am the next working day when ordered by 3.30pm. Alternatively the microfiche will be despatched on the day of order and delivered by post. For more information on products and services, please call our contact centre on +44 (0)303 1234 500.

Delivery of documents

During normal office hours staff are happy to date-stamp either a written receipt or a copy of the covering letter, but we regret that we are unable to stamp copies of the documents themselves.

There is a letterbox in our front door to enable deliveries outside office hours. All documents posted through the letterbox until midnight will be given that days date and forwarded unopened to Cardiff. Please note there are no facilities to provide receipt of delivery outside our opening hours.

To answer one of the most popular questions about out-of-hours deliveries: the letterbox is 37cm long by 6.5cm wide.

Same-day Incorporations, Name Changes, Re-Registrations and 117 Applications

For companies registered in England and Wales we process incorporations, name changes and re-registrations on a same-day basis at a charge of £50*. There is no charge for 117 applications.

From 13 th June 2005 we will be offering a same-day service on the incorporation and change of name of Limited Liability Partnerships (LLPs). Incorporations and changes of name will each be charged at £50.

There is a 3:00pm deadline for processing of same-day applications. All documentation must be delivered to the London office, correctly completed, by this deadline to be processed on that day. Customers should enclose a telephone number with all applications to enable staff to contact them regarding collections or rejections. All certificates can be posted on request.

Any rejected applications will be notified by phone when all other queued applications have been processed. Once corrected the application must be returned to Companies House by 3:00pm to be processed that day.

Please note that any applications received after 3:00pm and before 5:00pm will be retained to be processed on the next working day. We advise against submitting a same-day application after 5:00pm as all post received after this time will be forwarded, unopened, to our Cardiff office.

* A re-registration with a name change is charged at £100. A change in status (e.g. LTD to PLC) does not constitute a change of name.

Same-Day Certificates of Good-Standing, Certified Copies of Certificates of Incorporation and Certified Copies of Documents Held on the Register

The London information centre now offers a same-day service for certificates of good standing, certified copies of certificates of incorporation and, from 4 th April 2005, certified copies of documents held on the register.

The charge for these documents is £50 each and the cut-off time for ordering is 2:00pm. Documents are usually ready for collection by 4:00pm.
